Small brush fire contained near Deer Valley Drive

PARK CITY, Utah — A small brush fire burned roughly a quarter acre off Deer Valley Drive on Wednesday afternoon before being quickly contained by the Park City Fire District.
Battalion Chief Maxwell Dosher said the fire was located across the street from the Marriott’s Summit Watch, up above the retaining wall. Crews got access to the flames from Deer Valley Drive using ladders to reach the hillside about 150 feet above the road.
Firefighters were dispatched at around 2:10 p.m. and had the blaze extinguished by approximately 2:40 p.m., the scene was cleared and road opened shortly after 3 p.m. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains uncertain, though Dosher said crews from Rocky Mountain Power were working in the area at the time. “We’re kind of assuming that it may have been electrical,” he said.
Dosher said the Park City Fire District appreciates the community’s continued vigilance regarding wildfire risk, even as fire season winds down. “We really appreciate the community being vigilant and taking the risks of wildland fire so seriously,” he said.
