PARK CITY, Utah — The Lady Miners competed in the 4A playoffs for Utah high school girls’ soccer at Zions Bank Stadium on Monday at noon, where they lost in the semi-final round to Ridgeline, with a score of 5-3.
The Ridgeline River Hawks traveled from the Logan area to play at the stadium located in Harriman, within the Salt Lake Valley. Ridgeline scored three goals in the first half and two in the second, while the Miners netted one goal in the first half and two in the second. The Miners faced significant challenges as they defended against the persistent shots on goal from their formidable opponents.
On their path to the semi-finals, Park City secured victories over Jordan High with a 1-0 win and Mountain Crest with a 2-0 win.
Ridgeline will advance to face Snow Canyon High on Friday for the championship title at America First Field in Sandy, home to both MLS and NWSL matches.
Ella Dellenbach, a junior forward and team leader in goals and assists this season, stated, “We want our students to pack the stands and cheer on our team,” according to Principal Fine.
There was tremendous support for the Lady Miners from the Park City High School community. Students who signed up on a first-come, first-served basis received an excused absence from school. After purchasing a game ticket or reaching out to the Athletic Department for a subsidized price—provided their good grades qualified them for this privilege—students were able to ride a bus to the game. With the support of parents, the students were treated to pizza and sports drinks on the bus.
