SINGAPORE — Lia Block, 19, of Park City, won Race #1 of 2 in Singapore on Saturday and Sunday for her F1 Academy Team as a driver of the ART Grand Prix’s teams’ car during the Singapore Grand Prix.

Block races for Williams Racing Team.
The race was held on the Marina Bay Street Course on which Block was the Race #1 winner and the Race #2 winner was Dutch driver Maya Weug who competes for a division of Team Ferrari.
Now Block is ranked tenth in this the third the F1 Academy season’s standings as the tour travels on to series race number seven in Las Vegas after racing in China, Saudi Arabia, Miami, Montreal, and The Netherlands.
Some of the social media comments regarding her race included: “I know that Ken would shed a tear if he were there. She controlled that race from the start and 100% deserves to be on that top step.” And, “The long hug with mom says it all!”
British racer George Russel of the Mercedes Team won the headline event of the weekend among the men, second place went to Dutch-Belgian, Red Bull racer Max Verstappen third place was earned by Lando Norris from Great Britain of Team McClaren and just off the podium finishing fourth was Oscar Piastri , the Australian athlete also representing Team McClaren.
