PARK CITY, Utah — A day after Vail Resorts increased the price of its Epic Pass, Park City Mountain officials released long-awaited details about the resort’s parking plan for the 2025–26 ski season.
The new plan, announced Thursday, outlines the partial opening of a major new parking structure in Canyons Village. Resort officials said the first two levels of the Canyons Lower Village parking garage – which resort officials said in May will provide 653 parking places – will open in mid-December, in time for the holidays and parking there will be free.
Free parking will also be available in nearby surface lots – including the Cabriolet Lot around the parking structure and surface lots 1, 2 and 3 located through the Canyons Village. After 12 p.m. parking is also free in surface lot 4.
Resort-wide Vail made free parking available an hour sooner. Free parking now begins at 12p.m. instead of 1p.m., putting lunch laps back on the table.
The surface lots account for an additional 530 spaces, which brings the total available parking during the ski season to roughly 1,150 spaces — fewer than the roughly 1,840 that will be available upon full completion, but enough, officials said, to meet Vail Resorts’ operational needs during the interim period.

Paid parking will continue at the Mountain Village base, with rates set at $29 for morning parking in certain lots. The new rate represents a 45% increase in the cost of day parking over the last three years.
For the early part of the 2025–26 season, all Mountain Village parking lots will be free but still require advanced reservations from November 21 through December 4, guaranteeing a spot before noon. Starting December 5 through April 5, paid reservation parking will be required at the First Time, Main, and select Silver King lots.
Free carpool parking will again be offered to vehicles with four or more occupants. Resort leaders described the changes as part of an effort to “enhance the guest arrival experience” and reduce congestion, though critics have said the rollout of parking fees in recent years has frustrated locals and day visitors alike.
The garage rate for parking at Mountain Village will be $50 for the 2025-26 season – reservations are available 72 hours in advance and reservations are required 7 days a week.
The resort also provided updated guidance for drop-off and pickup areas, carpool zones, and shuttle access during ongoing construction. Officials said additional signage and staff would be in place to help drivers navigate the new configuration.
