Missing family rescued after being stranded overnight in Big Cottonwood Canyon

SALT LAKE, Utah — A family of four was found Sunday morning after being stranded overnight in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The 31-year-old man and his three children — a 2-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy, and an 8-year-old girl — were hiking near the Broads Fork Trail on Saturday, and were later reported missing, according to reporting by ABC4.
Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, DPS Aero Bureau, and Life Flight helped with the emergency response, coordinating aerial search efforts. The crews found the missing family Sunday morning.
Officials said the father is in fair condition, two children are in critical condition, and one child is in stable condition.
No additional information was available, as this remains an active investigation.
