Intermountain Health hosts free ladies night out event at Park City Hospital

PARK CITY, Utah — Intermountain Health’s free Ladies Night Out event is coming to Park City Hospital on Thursday, November 6. The event aims to celebrate women’s health and provide education about healthcare needs in various life stages, according to a release.

“As women we spend so much time as caregivers for children, family, and our friends that often remembering to take care of ourselves is last on our list,” said Alice Chung, MD, an Intermountain Health general surgeon at Intermountain Riverton Hospital. “We must make our own health and well-being a priority.”

Research shows that women make 80 percent of the healthcare decisions for their families. The Ladies Night Out event seeks to help women understand more about their own health needs and those of their families to support them in that decision making.

“Women will leave each event with information about the health screenings or services they might need for whatever stage of life they’re in – from adolescence to childbirth, from the postpartum period to helping to prevent breast cancer with regular mammograms, and through the ups and downs of menopause and beyond,” read the release.

Women’s health providers specializing in women and newborn care, behavioral health, mammography, nutrition, and pediatrics will be available to help answer questions and provide education. Caregivers who specialize in women’s sports medicine, physical therapy, urology, and breast reconstruction will also be available.

“As women, we often put our own health on the back burner,” said Dr. Chung. She recommended women keep up on all their health screenings, including mammograms, pap smears, heart health screenings, and colonoscopies.

Healthy food options to sample from hospital chefs will also be available, along with free giveaways, and prize drawings.
