PARK CITY, Utah — For the first time since 2019, the Adopt-a-Native-Elder Navajo Rug Show & Sale will return in person to Deer Valley Resort Nov. 7–9.
The annual event, held at Snow Park Lodge, showcases hand-woven rugs, crafts, and jewelry created by Navajo Elders. Visitors will also experience traditional singing, dancing, and cultural ceremonies. All proceeds from sales benefit the Elders and their families.
“We are proud to host the Adopt-a-Native-Elder Rug Show & Sale,” Deer Valley Resort President and Chief Operating Officer Todd Bennett said in a statement. “We invite guests to share in the celebration of time-honored Navajo traditions and make a meaningful contribution to their communities by purchasing their handmade goods.”
Linda Myers, founder of the Adopt-a-Native-Elder program, said the return to an in-person event provides crucial support for artists who otherwise lack access to sell their work. “These resilient women face hardships throughout the year and have no means of transportation to sell their goods, so having access to this platform is truly a life-sustaining opportunity for themselves and their families,” Myers said.
The weekend begins Friday, Nov. 7, with a ticketed VIP reception at 4 p.m. honoring the weavers and their traditions. The event will include a flute performance, Navajo food, program presentations, and early shopping access. Public early sale access begins at 6 p.m. that evening, also requiring a ticket.
Admission is free on Saturday and Sunday. Programming includes a veteran’s ceremony, Pow Wow dancers, and opportunities to purchase artwork and textiles directly from Navajo Elders.
The Adopt-a-Native-Elder program has long been dedicated to providing food, medical supplies, and market access to Elders across the Navajo Nation.
