UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah — A Utah trail runner is gaining recognition for his impressive feats in the Utah mountains and beyond. Zach Frisch, the man behind the @trailswithzach account, recently broke the Fastest Known Time (FKT) record for the Timpanokee Trail to the Mount Timpanogos summit at an impressive 2:14:38.
“It’s hard to put to words how good it feels to have a goal go from completely out of reach to completed,” he wrote about accomplishing the FKT. “It’s not about being the best, but about showing yourself what happens when you believe in yourself and your abilities.”
This isn’t the first feat he’s accomplished. This year, he completed Kings Peak in less than 6 hours, and in 2024 Frisch hiked around 2500 miles, climbing one million vertical feet. Talking to Amazing America TV, he estimated he spent about 750 hours in the mountains in order to hit this goal.
One of his most recent ventures involved hauling camp stoves and cooking equipment up Mount Timpanogos. On August 30, Frisch and twelve friends cooked 500 pancakes for fellow hikers who had reached the summit. According to his video, Frisch had to made two trips up the mountain in 24 hours to bring all the supplies.
Frisch’s growing list of accomplishments has earned him a devoted following online, but he also hosts a local run club every Wednesday to help introduce more people to trail running. Next up, Frisch is setting his sights on the Wasatch Ultimate Ridge Linkup.
