Stage 1 fire restrictions and Park City Open Fire Prohibition remain in place after Stage 2 restrictions lift state-wide

UTAH — As the summer winds down, Stage 2 fire restriction lifted on state and federally owned land just in time for Labor Day celebrations. According to Summit County Fire, Stage 1 restrictions are in place for state, unincorporated, and National Forest lands in the county.
State-wide, human-caused fires burned at least 101,595 acres this year, which is likely an all-time high, according to Jamie Barnes, director of the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands. There’s been a total of 915 fires this year, with at least 602 of those being human caused, according to Utah Fire Info.
Park City’s Open Fire Prohibition will remain in effect until October 31.
At Jordanelle State Park, Stage 1 restrictions allow open fires only in established public facilities like fire pits in improved campgrounds and picnic areas. Fires are never permitted on the beach.
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions
1. No open fires of any kind except within established public facilities in improved campgrounds, picnic areas. -OR- In permanently constructed fire pits at private homes where running water is present.
2. No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, trailer or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area that is paved or free from dry vegetation.
3. No fireworks, tracer ammunition or other pyrotechnic devices including exploding targets.
4. No cutting, welding or grinding metal in areas of dry vegetation.
5. No operating a motorcycle, chainsaw, ATV, or other small internal combustion engine without an approved and working spark arrestor.
