Protesters gather outside Park City Senior Center during visit from Sen. Mike Lee’s staffer

PARK CITY, Utah A staffer from Sen. Mike Lee’s office visited the Park City Senior Center on Thursday, where a small group of protesters gathered outside to voice opposition to the Utah Republican.

Pro-Active Alliance, a grassroots group of women from the greater Wasatch Back, organized the demonstration. Participants held a large sign reading “Fire Mike Lee” and said they received support from passersby and people entering the center.

Protesters briefly spoke with the staffer outside, who said his visit was focused on senior services, such as healthcare, not political issues like vaccines. Members of the group said that the distinction was unacceptable, citing concerns about vaccines, gun safety, and the protection of public lands.

“By refusing to engage on these issues—and by dismissing efforts to enact commonsense gun laws and by pushing to sell off our public lands rather than protect them—Senator Lee and his office are failing in their responsibility to the very people they are meant to represent,” the group said in a statement.

The protest remained outside the Senior Center, as the event inside was limited to members, and the center has rules prohibiting political discussion.

The demonstration was described by participant Callaway Zuccarello as peaceful.
