Police log: Multiple wildlife, vehicle collisions; DUI arrests after reckless driving

Monday, September 1
Incident: DUI
Deputies responded to an attempt-to-locate call for a reckless driver. A vehicle was stopped on Bitner Ranch Road after it failed to maintain its lane. The driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was arrested for DUI, open container, and several traffic offenses.
Tuesday, September 2
Incident: Wildlife Problem
A small doe, believed to have been clipped by a car, was reported running erratically in the roadway at Kearns Boulevard and Buffalo Bill Drive. The caller feared it would be struck again.
Wednesday, September 3
Incident: DUI
Deputies stopped a vehicle reported for swerving on Silver Summit Parkway. The driver was found to be impaired and arrested for DUI. Due to prior convictions, the charge was elevated to a felony DUI.
Incident: Secure Status
Schools on the Kearns campus were briefly placed in “secure” status after the Park City Police Department received a report of a “possibly armed individual” at Park City High School.

Incident: Wildlife Problem
A large moose was reported standing near the street on Gilt Edge Circle while cars drove past at high speeds. The caller was concerned the animal would be hit.
Incident: Trespassing
Live monitoring cameras captured a trespasser roaming inside a fenced construction site on Homestake Road.
Thursday, September 4
Incident: Theft
Deputies responded to the Park City Outlets for a report of two suspects stealing merchandise. The suspects were arrested with stolen property on them, and more stolen items were found in their vehicle after a search warrant was obtained.
Incident: Traffic Stop
A vehicle was stopped near Wheaton Way and Royal Street West after it was seen crossing the double yellow line to pass a cement truck.
Incident: Traffic Hazard
A dump truck was reported to have spilled boulders and rocks down the center of Piper Way before leaving the scene.
Friday, September 5
Incident: Wildlife Problem
An injured deer was reported on the shoulder of State Road 224 near mile marker 8. The animal was still alive when the call came in.
Saturday, September 6
Incident: DUI
Deputies investigated a single-car accident near Bitner Road and Bitner Ranch Road. The driver displayed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested for DUI.
Incident: Wildlife Problem
An injured deer was reported near the 18th hole of the golf course on Thaynes Canyon Drive. The caller said the animal needed to be dispatched.
Incident: Attempt to Locate
A reckless driver in a gray Mazda 3 was reported swerving on U.S. 40 eastbound near the exit toward Park City.
Incident: Suspicious
A man was reported camping nightly at the Park City Cemetery and leaving a mess. The caller saw him again on the evening of September 6.
Incident: Accident
An elk with a possibly broken leg was reported in the roadway on State Road 248 near The Narrows, causing traffic to slow down.
Sunday, September 7
Incident: DUI/Drugs
Deputies initiated a traffic stop at mile marker 13 on State Road 248 for speeding. The driver was arrested for DUI after deputies smelled alcohol and burnt marijuana. A passenger was cited for possession of a controlled substance.
Incident: Attempt to Locate
A reckless driver in a gray BMW was reported swerving and nearly crashing on Marsac Avenue. The reporting party still had visual and was willing to sign a statement.
Incident: Animal Problem
A dog was reported trapped inside a construction site at the Deer Valley Roundabout near a large yellow crane.
