ROCK SPRINGS, Wyoming — The Park City Soccer Club (PCSC) had a weekend ‘W’ in WY with their boys team in the silver level, aged 10 years old, in the annual Rock Challenge tournament in Rock Springs.
The tournament is similar to PCSC’s Extreme Cup, but on a slightly smaller scale and has team spots for boys and girls from around the western states, between the ages of seven and 17.
The team finished 4-0 winning the championship in dramatic fashion in penalty kicks. This marked the second time this season the team has won a tournament in overtime, showcasing their resilience under pressure.
“Their victory reflects the hard work and dedication they’ve shown since July,” The Team’s Coach Tim Davis told TownLift. “While the out-of-state trip a gave the team valuable experiences on the field the lifelong memories made from competing and enjoying time together off it is the most important take away from the tournament.” He added, “The future is bright for Park City Soccer Club’s Boys 2015 age group.”
This Saturday all the families involved with the Park City Soccer Club have the opportunity to spectate at the annual Club Night in Salt Lake City at the REAL Salt Lake stadium as a fun, team-building event where, in the past, the youth athletes get to go onto the field before the game and at halftime to show their team spirit. They’ll be playing the MLS team from Austin, TX.
