PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Miners beat the Mountain View Bruins in their first varsity football conference game of the season, at home for the homecoming game, by a final score of 45-14.
“So far so good, we’re doing pretty well,” said head coach Josh Monzinga at halftime, when the score was 28-14. Concerning the upcoming second half, he said, “Execution will be the focus, playing a clean game, taking care of the ball, and going out there and doing what we can do best to put it in the end zone.”

The halftime ceremony featured the crowning of Jack Rayner as Homecoming King and Renee Hebert as Homecoming Queen. Hebert told TownLift, “It feels great, such an honor in my senior year.” She was a junior on the homecoming court last year. She’s the captain of one of the state’s first flag football teams. “I’m still good friends with people that I’ve grown up with. So it’s really awesome seeing everybody change as they grow and who they become friends with, and where they’re going to go with their future.” Asked about her future she said, “I’m not totally sure yet. Probably somewhere in Florida, where I have family.”
During the halftime Jeep parade announcing the homecoming court, the cars were driven by members of the student body government, including Alec Lebwohl.
PCHS introduced three new things to the Homecoming lineup this year, while many traditions remained. New to the Homecoming agenda was the pre-game patio party thrown by the school on its recently constructed expansion adjacent to Dozier Field.

A halftime running race among a handful of teachers wearing inflatable costumes tried to beat the Miner and Mini-Miner mascots.
A halftime fireworks show was the third new addition to the annual festivities.
Traditions which stayed the same from years before included, earlier in the week’s Powder Puff game, the Powder Buff game, the homecoming bonfire, then the following night was the homecoming dance held in the cafeteria.
Another popular holdover was the dance team performing at halftime.
Followed by the cheer squad.
Then the football team took the field for the second half of the game where senior Eli Warner, senior Owen Osorio, and junior Ethan Cunningham all scored touchdowns.
