CCPC brings Alice Waters and Hell’s Backbone chefs to the table for 25th anniversary celebration

PARK CITY, Utah — The Christian Center of Park City (CCPC) will host a special fundraising event, the Tables of Late Summer Gala, on Sept. 5 in honor of its 25-year commitment to fighting food insecurity and serving families in Summit and Wasatch counties.

The evening will feature a seasonal dinner created by Blake Spalding and Jen Castle, founding chefs of Hell’s Backbone Grill & Farm, with inspiration from Alice Waters, founder of Chez Panisse and The Edible Schoolyard Project. Waters, Spalding, and Castle will also take part in a conversation moderated by Davia Nelson of NPR’s The Kitchen Sisters.

The event will take place at CCPC, 1283 Deer Valley Drive, Park City. Check-in, cocktails, appetizers, and an optional food pantry tour begin at 5 p.m. Please email steve@ccofpc.org with the subject line “Gala RSVP” to reserve your seat.

At 6 p.m., CCPC Executive Director Steve Richardson and board member Byron Russell will give opening remarks, followed by a 6:15 p.m. presentation and Q&A with Waters, Spalding, and Castle. Dinner, prepared by The Blended Table with locally sourced ingredients, will be served at 7 p.m.

Individual plates are $1,500, and tables of eight are available for $10,000. Guests are asked to dress in mountain chic attire. Limited parking is available on-site, with valet services provided.

Funds raised during the dinner will help sustain CCPC’s work and expand its programs for the future.

The anniversary celebration continues Sept. 6 with an expanded edition of CCPC’s annual Hike for Hunger, held at the Utah Olympic Park from 2 to 6 p.m. This year’s hike will transform the longstanding tradition into a large-scale community celebration, highlighting CCPC’s impact over the past quarter century and its vision for the future.

For 25 years, CCPC has provided food, clothing, and resources to local families. Its programs have grown to include school supplies, mental health and wellness support, and other initiatives designed to meet the evolving needs of the community.

Hike for Hunger 2025 honors CCPC’s past and looks forward to another 25 years
