Bonanza Loop Trail to close Oct. 1 for “season of rest”

PARK CITY, Utah — Bonanza Loop Trail will close Wednesday for its “season of rest,” according to Mountain Trails Foundation. The trail closes annually to protect wildlife as elk, deer, and moose shift their ranges. It will reopen July 1, 2026.

“Right now, it’s alive with photographers drawn to the golden aspens and ridgelines ablaze with color,” said Utah Open Lands and Mountain Trails Foundation in a recent social media post. “For elk, moose, and deer, Bonanza Loop Trail is not simply a path for recreation or leaf-peeping, but their habitat. Good stewardship means giving this loop its season of rest.”

The trail was completed in August 2024 as the first multi-use trail for mountain biking and hiking in the Bonanza Flat Conservation Area.
