Preliminary results released for Summit County’s municipal primaries

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Preliminary results are in from Tuesday’s municipal primary elections across Summit County, with races in Coalville, Henefer, and Francis narrowing the field ahead of the Nov. 4 general election.
Results remain unofficial until the county publishes final certifications, which are anticipated to be released later this week.
Voter turnout countywide was about 38 percent.
Park City’s eight-way council race also appeared on the ballot, with Diego Zegarra and Danny Glasser among the early leaders. TownLift has full coverage of those results here.
Coalville preliminary results
In Coalville, the mayoral race saw Rory Swensen (143 votes) and Coalville City Councilor Lynn Wood (111) appear to emerge as the top two candidates. If they remain in the lead after official tallies, Swenson and Wood will advance to the general election while William Brock (39) and Tyler Rowser (34) will be eliminated.
For Coalville City Council, where voters could select two candidates, Matthew Boyer is leading the field with 188 votes followed by Jeff Peterson with 166. Colleen Goodman and Andrew Nelson received 104 and 72 votes, respectively, and will join Boyer and Peterson on November’s ballot. Steven Richins (61 votes) and Chris Tomczyk (33) appear to be eliminated.
Henefer preliminary results
In Henefer, incumbent mayor Kay Richins (119 votes) finished ahead of James Rees (95) as the top two candidates in the mayoral election.
According to preliminary election results, Dawn Langston, who earned 9 votes, was eliminated.
Francis preliminary results
Francis voters selected candidates for two open city council seats. The four candidates who voters appear to have chosen for the November general election are Riley Atkinson, who received the most votes with 149; Lynsi Stone and Clayton Querry, who each received 98.; and Shana Fryer with 83 votes.
If final results hold to these numbers, Francis City Planning Commissioners Justin Ciampi (47 votes) and Scott Buchanan (26) will be eliminated.
