Police Log: Burglary at the Jeremy Ranch Store, intoxicated assault at Leonardo’s Market

Monday, August 11
Incident: Injury Accident
Deputies responded to an overturned dump truck on White Pine Canyon Road. Witnesses reported that the driver lost control of his brakes, causing the truck to roll onto its driver’s side. EMS extricated the driver, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Deputies managed traffic and intermittently closed the road while crews removed the truck.
Incident: Traffic Hazard
Traffic lights were reported out at Park Avenue and Thaynes Canyon Drive. Callers said drivers were not treating the intersection as a four-way stop.
Incident: Non-Injury Accident
A Lincoln rear-ended a Volvo at the Deer Valley Roundabout. No injuries were reported, and the vehicles were able to pull off the road to access the damage.
Incident: Traffic Stop
Deputies stopped a vehicle that turned left from Iron Horse Drive onto Park Avenue, where left turns are restricted during certain times.
Tuesday, August 12
Incident: Assault
Deputies responded to an intoxicated individual at Leonardo’s Market on Sagewood Drive. The suspect reportedly headbutted the store owner during an argument. The owner then pushed the suspect, who fell and struck his head. The suspect was transported to the hospital, cited, and released to medical staff.
Incident: Attempt to Locate
Boneyard staff reported calling an Uber for an intoxicated customer. The customer instead got into his own vehicle, a gray Subaru, after refusing the Uber. Deputies put out an Attempt to Locate on the man’s vehicle.
Thursday, August 14
Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR units responded to Rockport Reservoir after a man fell off a paddleboard without a life vest. He was last seen about 20 feet from his board before going under. He was located safely on shore shortly after units arrived.
Incident: Pursuit
Deputies responded to a burglary alarm at the Jeremy Ranch Store and saw a white Cadillac leaving the area. After successfully stopping the vehicle, deputies asked the driver to identify himself. He fled, leading deputies on a pursuit that ended near mile marker 133 on I-80. The case was forwarded to investigations.
Incident: Motorist Assist
Deputies assisted a motorhome driver with a blown trailer tire on U.S. 40 eastbound. The deputy remained on scene while changing the tire.
Incident: Non-Injury Accident
A vehicle struck another while pulling into a parking spot on Main Street. The incident involved a National Ability Center transport van and a BMW. No injuries were reported.
Friday, August 15
Incident: Single Vehicle Accident
A vehicle traveling on Rasmussen Road veered off the roadway and onto the adjacent bike path Friday afternoon. The driver lost control of the vehicle after a medical event. No injuries were reported on the road or the bike path, and the driver was transported to the hospital.

Incident: DUI
Deputies responded to a welfare check at the Jeremy Ranch Store, where a man was found asleep at the gas pumps. Deputies detected alcohol, conducted sobriety tests, and arrested the man for DUI.
Incident: Wildlife Problem
A caller reported a moose and calf on the Rail Trail near Prospector Park. The animals were not acting aggressively.

A herd of elk was reported walking along the road near The Narrows on SR-248, appearing ready to cross.
Saturday, August 16
Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR units were dispatched to Rockport Reservoir after two individuals fell from a wave runner during a microburst storm and could not get back on. They reached shore safely before SAR arrived.
Incident: Traffic Hazard
A large tree blew over onto the sidewalk on Wyatt Earp Drive. It did not hit power lines or equipment, and no injuries were reported.
Sunday, August 17
Incident: Suspicious Circumstances
Two men riding dirt bikes were reported driving through the soccer fields behind Treasure Mountain Junior High and in the Park City Hill area.
