PARK CITY, Utah — One of the toughest endurance mountain bike races in the country returns to Park City this Labor Day weekend. The Park City Point 2 Point (PCP2P) will send riders across 75 miles of high-elevation singletrack, climbing more than 10,000 feet while traversing through alpine terrain.
Now in its 16th year, the race is a true test of endurance and preparation. More than 90 percent of the course runs on singletrack, and thanks to Park City’s 400-plus miles of interconnected trails, competitors won’t ride the same trail twice. Racers are expected to navigate the route independently, adding an element of adventure that organizers say harkens back to the early days of mountain bike racing.
“It will challenge your mental prowess,” organizers noted on a social post, “yet it will have you grinning from ear to ear at times. The P2P is a true adventure style event (like the old days).”
Course Changes in 2025
This year’s course features three key adjustments:
The Rinse Cycle and Humdinger section is closed, rerouting riders onto Pipeline, Deer Crest, and Mid Mountain.
The Team Big Bear climb has been removed due to trail damage from horse tours, with Boulder now taking its place.
Round Valley mileage has been shifted, replacing Big Easy with Rambler and Seventy 101.
Partners and Sustainability Efforts
Scott Sports, with North American headquarters in Utah, continues as the presenting sponsor, a partnership spanning nearly a decade. Course marking is underway this week, despite the wet weather, with crews putting in long miles on Scott Lumen e-bikes.
The event is also expanding its sustainability efforts. QEJA, a company focused on responsibly sourced apparel, is partnering with P2P and Recycle Utah to reduce waste. Racers will receive a pair of durable QEJA socks, and aid stations will include composting and recycling options, including collection bins for nutrition wrappers that will be sent to TerraCycle for repurposing.
The Challenge Ahead
The Park City Point 2 Point is regarded as one of the most difficult but also rewarding mountain bike races in the U.S. With steep climbs, technical descents, and relentless mileage, it demands months of training and careful preparation.
Even for those who don’t take the start line, the event showcases the breadth of Park City’s trail network and the region’s reputation as a mountain biking destination.
