6 Summit County summer events you may not know about but should

Here are six arts and culture events that will keep you soaking up the last days of summer in the Wasatch Back in the most creative and colorful ways.

1. Art on the Trails | Aug. 23

This one-of-a-kind event seamlessly blends arts, culture and nature — celebrating immersive art experiences on McLeod Creek trail on Saturday, August 23 from 2 to 6 p.m.

The Arts Council of Park City & Summit County teams up with Basin Recreation and Copper Moose Farms to connect art and nature. The goal is to provide an accessible platform for residents and visitors to get outdoors, steep themselves in the beauty of our natural surroundings and be inspired by art in unexpected ways.

Art on the Trails provides pop-up style creative art activations and performances along McLeod Creek Trail between Copper Moose Farm Stand and Temple Har Shalom in Park City. Attendees can witness dancing, opera, cultural performances and plein air painting.

2. Monster Drawing Rally | Sept. 13

The ninth annual Park City Monster Drawing Rally is planned for Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, from 3-6 p.m.

The event is a partnership program between the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County and the Kimball Art Center.

This is the most upbeat, raucous and interactive art event in the state. The live drawing event and party allows spectators to spy on the creative process, build relationships with local artists and grow their art collections.

Artists create works in real time across three 50-minute rounds. Original works range from watercolor, ink, acrylic or mixed media.

Finished pieces are sold for just $50 each. It is a high-energy and creative way for artists and art lovers to connect in a unique and powerful way. Tickets and more information can be found here.

3. Deer Valley Creative Academy Cooking Classes | Aug. 10, 17, 24, 31

At Deer Valley Creative Academy, they offer a fusion of culinary and crafting experiences that ignite your senses and nurture your artistic spirit. Classes are offered every Sunday through August.

Indulge your love for food and libations with our diverse selection of cooking and wine pairing classes, led by industry professionals and local experts. Bake Deer Valley staples like their famous carrot cake, or explore gourmet side dishes to elevate any meal.

Whether you’re a seasoned chef or an aspiring foodie, the academy offers something for everyone.

4. Park City Opera | Aug. 24, 29, 30

Take part in the magic of the first staged opera in Park City in 20 years.

“Il barbiere di Siviglia” (“The Barber of Seville”) is a comic masterpiece, known for its catchy melodies (think: “Figaro, Figaro, Figaroooo”), mischievous characters and infectious humor that transcends time.

Expect laughter, stunning voices and a thrilling performance that will introduce you to the timeless characters of Figaro, Rosina and Count Almaviva in all their glory.

This opera will be performed in Italian with English supertitles.

The opera is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 24, at Park City Library’s Jim Sandy Auditorium and Friday, Aug. 29, and Saturday, Aug. 30, at Premiere Park City.

5. Alpine Distilling Cocktail Class at Summit Community Gardens & EATS | Aug. 7

Elevate your cocktail game and learn to mix up a collection of special spring craft cocktails with Master Botanical Distiller Sara Sergent and Special Events Manager Xania V. Woodman of Alpine Distilling.

Recently inducted into London’s prestigious Gin Guild, Sara also accepted the Fifty Best Awards’ gold medal for Best American Blended Whisky and Salt Lake Magazine’s designation as Utah’s No. 1 distillery.

Participants will watch Sara and Xania V. Woodman demo two cocktails, hear about the botanical distilling process, plus sample two other Alpine Distilling offerings. Ticket includes two cocktails, two samples and light refreshments.

6. Park City Film | Aug. 7, 8, 13, 15

Throughout the summer, Park City Film brings movies to life on a big screen both inside and outside the Park City Library, as well as Kamas City Park.

Since 1995, Park City Film has had the mission to create community through film. The organization presents the best of independent feature, documentary, world and local cinema.

Their summer lineup features films for the entire family from the documentaries, like “Speak” and “Sabbath Queen” to “Puss in Boots” and “The Wild Robot.” More information can be found at parkcityfilm.org.
