PARK CITY, Utah — The third annual Mountain Mettle Boxing and Charity Event, hosted by RISE Boxing, is set for Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. at The Corner Store at the base of Park City Mountain Resort. The USA Boxing-sanctioned showcase will feature 20 amateur matches highlighting local and regional talent.
The event raises funds for the RISE Strong Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports youth boxing scholarships and therapeutic programs for people with Parkinson’s disease. In 2024, the foundation awarded more than 50 scholarships, donated $4,000 to the Parkinson’s Foundation, and provided 150 classes, community events, and services to over 25 individuals living with the disease.
RISE Boxing aims to raise $20,000 this year to sustain and expand these programs. A $12,000 grant from the Park City Community Foundation and Youth United will fund monthly scholarships for 50 children to participate in boxing classes. An additional $8,000 will be allocated toward developing a mobile app for individuals with Parkinson’s, offering targeted exercises designed by a committee of individuals with the disease.
“Boxing is more than a sport—it’s a tool for transformation,” said MG Vellinga, founder of RISE Boxing. “From building resilience in our youth to providing therapeutic benefits for those with Parkinson’s, we’re committed to creating stronger, more connected communities.”
All funds raised will go directly to programs, with no deductions for administration, coaching, or event costs, made possible through sponsorships and volunteer support.
Organizers expect more than 300 attendees. Tickets and donation information are available at www.riseboxing.com/events.
