Meet the painter who treats every home like his own – ready to transform yours?

For Shawn Irvin, painting homes is more than just a job — it’s a way to stay grounded in the mountain lifestyle he’s loved since childhood. Photo: Smooth Lines Painting.
PARK CITY, Utah — What started as a summer job for Shawn Irvin has grown into Smooth Lines Painting, a trusted, locally owned company that approaches every project with the same care and attention he’d give his own home. As the owner of this family-run business, Irvin brings decades of experience and a deep personal connection to each residential and commercial project across Summit and Wasatch counties.
“I grew up skiing Park City, making snow in the winters, selling gear at Cole Sport. I’ve been part of this town for a long time,” Irvin said. “We live here. We work here. That’s what sets us apart.”
Originally from Philadelphia, Irvin first came to Utah at age 15 and later earned a business degree from the University of Utah. His passion for transforming spaces began during his school years, painting in the summers and later working alongside some of Park City’s most established painters. When Smooth Lines officially launched eight years ago, Irvin combined his hands-on craftsmanship with project management expertise, specializing in bringing homeowners’ visions to life.
The company offers full-service interior and exterior residential and commercial painting, with Irvin’s team treating each home as if it were their own most prized possession. Whether refreshing existing colors or completely transforming a space, every project receives the same meticulous attention to detail.
“With the elevation and exposure we have here, the elements are rough,” Irvin said. “Exterior paint isn’t just cosmetic. It protects your home from costly damage like wood rot or siding replacement.”
Beyond new construction, Smooth Lines Painting has developed specialized expertise in historic home restoration, a skillset Irvin cultivated while carefully preserving the character and craftsmanship of Old Town Park City’s most treasured properties.

“Back then, a lot of those homes still had original trim, millwork and intricate detail,” Irvin said. “That kind of painting takes a different level of care and craftsmanship. I learned from some of the old-school painters in Park City, and we carry that knowledge forward.”
This dedication to preserving the unique character of each home extends to every project Smooth Lines undertakes. Working with both homeowners and developers across Summit and Wasatch counties, including several high-end private communities, Irvin’s crew approaches each job with the same boutique mindset and personal investment.
“We keep our workload balanced so we can give each job the time and attention it deserves,” he said. “We pride ourselves on communication, transparency and earning our clients’ trust.”
Irvin lives in Heber with his wife, Larra, and dog, Sterling. An avid backcountry skier, snowmobiler and mountain biker, he built his business around the same values that drew him to mountain living: quality, authenticity, and respect for what matters most.
““You’re either refreshing your home’s current colors or transforming the whole look — either way, a fresh coat of paint adds value and protection,” Irvin said. “We’re here to help you get it done right.”
