Police Log: String of vehicle thefts, stolen firearms recovered after being donated

Monday, June 23

Incident: Disturbing the Peace
A caller complained of loud people partying at an apartment unit on Park Avenue. 

Incident: Hit and Run
A passing semi truck scraped alongside a car and did not stop.

Incident: Vagrancy
A property manager who manages condos on Woodside Avenue found clothes and other belongings in one of the units. He believed it looks like someone homeless was staying there.

Tuesday, June 24

Incident: Animal Problem
A golden retriever with no collar was running on Monitor Drive; the caller was concerned it might get to Kearns and get hit.

Incident: Wildlife Problem
A driver hit a deer on Kearns Blvd & Round Valley. No injuries were reported. 

Incident: Recovered Property
Four stolen firearms were recovered at a local business after they had apparently been donated to the business. The firearms were found in their original retail packaging. The serial numbers were confirmed lost/stolen through NCIC. The firearms were secured and booked into evidence. There are currently no suspects or known circumstances as to how the firearms ended up at the business. An email was sent to the originating agency providing the circumstances surrounding the recovery of these firearms.

Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR was notified of overdue parties at Anchor Lake. Deputies responded and the parties were able to make contact with the complainant stating they were on their way out. They were overdue due to vehicle issues.

Thursday, June 26

Incident: Weapons Offense
Deputies responded to a report of an attempt to locate on I-80 westbound; the suspect vehicle was related to a theft from Wyoming. The vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was initiated. During the course of the traffic stop, multiple loaded firearms were located along with drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver was transported to jail and the vehicle was impounded.

Incident: Vehicle Burglary
The police received a call that a man’s vehicle was burglarized he was also victim. The doors were unlocked on his vehicle and tools were taken.

Incident: Vehicle Burglary
The caller stated that the car next to hers had two windows broken, and her car was gone through but there was no damage. 

Friday, June 27

Incident: Traffic Complaint
A call to the police station reported a lot of dump trucks that were driving “way too fast” on Richardson Flat Rd.

Incident: Citizen Assist
A man called the police station and reported that he’d received many complaints about his dump trucks. He requested an officer to go pull them over because his drivers weren’t listening to him about taking a certain route.

Saturday, June 28

Incident: Trespassing
A caller reported that four teens were trespassing in the hot tub in Empire Club.
