Police Log: Illegal fireworks on 4th of July, vehicle burglaries continue

Monday, June 30
Incident: Traffic Hazard
A caller reported that the pedestrian crossing lights near Fresh Market on Park Avenue were not flashing properly when people crossed.
Incident: Traffic Hazard
A downed tree was reported about a quarter mile from the Snow Park entrance on Royal Street. The tree was blocking the road.
Tuesday, July 1
Incident: Citizen Assist
At the dog park on Gillmor Way, a woman reported her 3-pound dog was missing.
Wednesday, July 2
Incident: Injury Accident
Two vehicles were involved in a crash on Bonanza Drive. One person reported back pain.
Incident: Wildlife Problem
A moose was seen wandering near the baseball fields at City Park on Sullivan Road. The caller said the moose looked confused.
Thursday, July 3
Incident: Vehicle Burglary
Deputies investigated two separate vehicle burglaries near the Kilby Road/Pinebrook Road area. One victim provided surveillance footage showing a suspect possibly using an electronic device or magnet to unlock the cars. The suspect has not yet been identified.
Note: Multiple vehicle burglaries and attempted burglaries were reported during the early morning hours. Deputies are conducting extra patrols in the Pinebrook and Kilby Road neighborhoods.
Friday, July 4
Incident: UAS Deployed
Drones were periodically flown over the Main Street parade route to monitor for suspicious activity. No issues were reported.
Incident: Citizen Assist
A citizen reported a man dumping trash into a private construction dumpster.
Incident: Fireworks Complaints
Police received multiple calls about fireworks being set off throughout Park City, including Park Avenue, Marsac Avenue near City Hall, Little Kate Road, Daly Avenue, Sullivan Road near City Park, Main Street near the Treasure Inn, and Normans Way. Reports included fireworks being lit in the road and roman candles being shot off. Four juveniles were also caught lighting fireworks near the high school.
Saturday, July 5
Incident: Hit and Run
A woman reported that her 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee was hit the night before while parked near Round Valley Drive.
Incident: Weapons Offense
Deputies responded to the Holiday Hills RV Park in Coalville after a man brought out two firearms during a family dispute. One of the weapons was discharged into the air before a family member disarmed him. The suspect was arrested on multiple charges. No injuries were reported.
Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR and Mounted Patrol helped two lost hikers return to the trailhead in the Wall Lake area.
Incident: Fireworks Complaints
More fireworks-related complaints were reported across the area.
