Police Log: Fatal crash on Weber Canyon Road, suspicious activity near vacation rental

Monday, July 7

Incident: Graffiti
Graffiti was reported in the men’s bathroom at the recreation center near the hospital on Sullivan Road.

Incident: Wildlife Problem
A wild turkey was seen in the travel lane on SR-224 near Walgreens and Starbucks. Drivers were reportedly slamming on their brakes to avoid it.

Incident: Disorderly Conduct
A caller reported a man came into a business on Sidewinder Drive yelling at an employee. The suspect was described as a bearded white male wearing shorts and a hat.

Tuesday, July 8

Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR members responded to a horse-related injury in the Uinta Mountains.

Incident: Pedestrian Stop
Two juveniles were stopped on Deer Valley Drive while riding a bicycle without a headlight.

Incident: Vehicle Burglary
A man reported that two sets of golf clubs were stolen from his vehicle in the Wells Fargo parking lot on Kearns Boulevard. The theft occurred within an hour of the report.

Incident: Animal Problem
A large Labrador-type dog was dropped off at the station on Royal Street East. No reports of a missing dog were on file.

Wednesday, July 9

Incident: Fatal Accident
A 17-year-old male was killed in a motorcycle crash on Weber Canyon Road. He was traveling eastbound when he failed to navigate a turn, sliding into a fence. He was found deceased by passersby approximately 30 minutes later.

Incident: Juvenile Problem
An officer on Park Avenue reported interacting with several kids on Surron electric motorcycles for an educational conversation.

Incident: Graffiti
A hiker reported seeing four individuals actively spray painting and playing loud music at the old Silver King Mine site on King Road.

Thursday, July 10

Incident: Traffic Hazard
A semi-truck became stuck at the top of Rossie Hill on Ontario Avenue. The caller said the situation was hard to miss.

Incident: Suspicious Circumstance
A guest in a Deer Valley Drive AirBnB rental reported someone knocking on the wall outside a first-floor window and attempting to look in.

Friday, July 11

Incident: Traffic Hazard
Glass and cardboard debris were reported in the roadway at the intersection of Little Kate Road and Racquet Club Drive.

Saturday, July 12

Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR responded to a missing child report. The child was found by deputies before SAR arrived.

Incident: Disturbing the Peace
Two separate noise complaints were made: one on Woodside Avenue for a group playing beer pong, and another on Monarch Drive for a loud back porch party.

Incident: Hazardous Materials Spill
A caller reported fryer oil leaking into a storm drain behind a business on Swede Alley after someone disposed of it into a dumpster.

Sunday, July 13

Incident: Animal Problem
A black truck was parked in front of El Chubasco on Bonanza Drive with a dog in the bed and no water. The animal had reportedly been there for over an hour.

Incident: Non-Injury Accident
A Park City Transit bus and a red Dodge Charger collided at 8th Street and Park Avenue. No injuries were reported, though there was vehicle damage.
