PCSD Preschool spots still open for 3- and 4-year-olds

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City School District is carving out more room for its youngest learners, opening new preschool classrooms at Parley’s Park and Trailside elementary schools and inviting families to claim the remaining seats before the school year begins.

The expansion, supported by the Park City Education Foundation and made possible by a 2021 voter‑approved bond that funded new early‑learning space across the district, includes a new early‑childhood wing at Parley’s Park built specifically for 3‑ and 4‑year‑olds. “It’s truly a beautiful space,” preschool coordinator Melissa Tschabrun shared.

With the addition, PCSD now operates preschool on four elementary campuses:

Jeremy Ranch Elementary: program is full for 2025‑26.

McPolin Elementary: nine openings for 4‑year‑olds, one for a 3‑year‑old.

Parley’s Park Elementary: one opening for a 3‑year‑old in the brand‑new wing.

Trailside Elementary: one opening for a 4‑year‑old and two half‑day slots for 3‑year‑olds.

“We welcome new students at any time throughout the school year,” Tschabrun said. “As long as there is space available, families who move into the district or decide to enroll later are always encouraged to join.”

Full‑day option

Parents who need extended hours can enroll children in after‑school care with a few spots still available at JRES after school program, which runs until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“They’re learning alongside the broader school community but in rooms, cafeterias, and playgrounds sized just for them,” said Jennifer Billow, Vice President of Advancement at the Park City Education Foundation. Classes make trips to the campus media centers and other shared areas as part of that integration.

“Our preschool programs are becoming more integrated into our elementary school communities. Both JRES and MPES have their own cafeteria and small gym, while all preschool classrooms across sites include dedicated playgrounds,” Tschabrun said. “All 4-year-old students will have the opportunity to work with our elementary specialists in art, music, coding, and physical education, creating a more enriching and well-rounded experience,” she said.

Each classroom follows the Utah State Early Learning Standards, blending structured instruction with play‑based exploration. “PCSD Preschool offers high‑quality early childhood education in a warm, inclusive and engaging environment,” Tschabrun said. “We focus on the whole child — supporting academic growth, social‑emotional development and a love for learning.”

For Tschabrun, the latest expansion is less about square footage than about access. Flexible schedules, rolling enrollment and sliding‑scale tuition aim to remove barriers for families across Summit County. “We’re committed to access and equity,” she said, calling the program “a wonderful first step on a child’s educational journey.”

Families interested in touring the new Parley’s Park wing or registering at any campus can contact the preschool office beginning Monday, July 28.

“We’re thrilled to offer our youngest learners a strong start within our vibrant elementary environments” Tschabrun said.
