New Jeremy Ranch roundabout statues receive official names after community poll

PARK CITY, Utah — Next time you’re cruising through the Jeremy Ranch or Pinebrook roundabouts, make sure to wave to Park City’s newest residents, Rocky the Moose and Sandy the Crane.

The monumental sculptures were brought to life by artists Don Kennell and Lisa Adler of DKLA Design. But it was local students who started the process to give the steel creatures their true identities. The name “Rocky,” submitted by students at Ecker Hill Middle School, and “Sandy,” from Jeremy Ranch Elementary, rose to the top in a community-wide naming poll where over 1,300 locals voted.

Not to be forgotten, Milo (nominated by Weilenmann School of Discovery) and River (from Park City Day School) earned their own moment in the spotlight. The names will now be assigned to Sandy’s colts perched on her back.

“Thanks to everyone who helped bring these sculptures to life, especially our creative local students and voters across the community,” said Summit County officials.
