SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — As fireworks season continues and fire conditions become increasingly dangerous, Summit County is reminding residents to be familiar with existing fire and fireworks bans in the county.
Park City currently has a ban on fireworks, sparklers, and open flames within city limits, and unincorporated areas within the Park City Fire District are also enforcing a fireworks ban. Coalville, Francis, Henefer, and Kamas also have fireworks bans in place.
“Campfire and firework restrictions remain in effect,” said Sgt. Skyler Talbot with Summit County Sheriff’s Office. “Our office prioritizes education and outreach when it is appropriate. However, it’s important to understand that violations of fire orders are criminal offenses and will be enforced by our deputies.”
Violating firework restrictions can lead to a class B misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
You can see where active fire restrictions are in place on Utah Fire Info’s website.
