The Compass has new Community Education classes for Leisure Learning

PARK CITY, Utah — Once again The Compass has arrived in locals’ mailbox to explain all the offerings for the summer from the Park City School District’s Community Education Leisure Learning Department.

The catalog has 66 courses, at least a half-dozen of which are new this season.

“There’s something for everyone in The Compass. It’s always a good opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, or go to new places you may not have had any reason to go before, but now can take courses there. Park City School District Leisure Learning Coordinator Jane Toly told TownLift, “Although prices vary, I had some fun crunching the numbers and came up with an the average of about $11 per hour for all that we offer in the Catalog, not bad for things to do in Park City.” 

All the previous classics and favorites are still there, however included below are some new courses:

• Practical AI: A Human Centered Approach.Todd MacDonald, founder of Applied AI Labs, leverages nearly two decades at Microsoft and a master’s in psychology to offer unique perspectives on AI’s practical applications. It’s offered on Wednesday’s from 6-8 p.m. on June 25, July 16, and August 13
• For teenagers there are Make and Take Jewelry Camps and Workshops for a few days or for a few hours
• Mathnasium is back and new this summer are for Rising 2nd and 3rd Graders on Monday – Thursday,  July 28 – 31, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. and Rising 4th, 5th and 6th Graders on Monday – Thursday, August 4 – 7, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. 
• Art Experiences for ages 6-12 year olds with Safari on Canvas Mondays. – Thursdays, June 30 – July 3, from 9:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.; Passion for Fashion, Monday’s – Fridays,  July 14 – 18, from 9:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.; and Giddy Up Artists, Friday’s, July 28 – August 1, 9:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. all three at Parley’s Park Elementary School
