High-speed pursuit on I-80 ends in Summit County

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – A high speed car chase ended along I-80 in Summit County Monday morning, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s office.

The pursuit originated in Wasatch County by Utah Highway Patrol, ending at mile marker 148 east of the U.S. Route 40 and Interstate 80 interchange near Silver Creek in Park City.

“We do not yet know the reason for the pursuit but they took someone into custody,” Summit County PIO Skyler Talbot said.

Eyewitnesses said a grey pickup truck was driving and passing cars at “excessive” speed before being stopped. Traffic along I-80 was stopped briefly and deputies had their firearms drawn during the apprehension.

Talbot said Wasatch County and Summit County Sheriffs both responded to assist the Utah Highway Patrol.

This report will be updated when more information becomes available.
