Young Park City debaters excel, placing in state’s top ten

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City School District’s elementary debaters posted five top-10 finishes at the Utah state debate championship, capping one of the program’s strongest showings to date.
Competing against 85 teams from across the state, 12 Park City teams advanced to elimination rounds; the pair of Sofia Erten and Alison Yarbrough led the delegation in fourth place. Tess Cartin and Clara Nunnelly followed in fifth, Arimis Turchin and Jenna Shroyer in seventh, Camille Ochello and Rae Morrison in ninth, and Ava Agee and Parker Blakestad in 10th.
The elementary debate program operates under the district’s Program for Academically Creative Education and receives funding support from the Park City Education Foundation.
