Volunteers remove 50 trash bags and 100 dog waste bags in Bonanza Flats annual cleanup

PARK CITY, Utah — High Bonanza Community Access, a local nonprofit, conducted its Annual Stewardship and Winter Recreation Cleanup on Sunday, removing dozens of bags of trash from conservation areas near Park City.

Volunteers cleaned approximately 6 miles of trails and roadways throughout the area, including the Midmountain trail head, Empire Pass, and the Bonanza Flat Trailhead.

The group collected between 40-50 bags of trash and more than 100 dog waste bags during the event, representing over 50 hours of donated community service time.

“We hold this cleanup each year because we want to be both good stewards of the area and good neighbors,” said a spokesperson for High Bonanza Community Access.

Among the unusual items recovered were a 1960s-era hubcap, fishing lures despite no fish being present in the area, and a voile strap.

High Bonanza Community Access primarily focuses on providing snowplowing and road maintenance services for Brighton Estate’s property owners and visitors. The nonprofit operates independently from any property owner’s association and is governed by volunteer Brighton Estates property owners who serve as board members.

The Midmountain trail area reportedly contained the largest amount of litter collected during Sunday’s cleanup effort.
