PARK CITY, Utah — Starting June 2, paid parking will be implemented at Bonanza Flat area trailheads, but Park City residents living within the 84060 zip code can avoid fees by applying for the Bonanza Flat Locals Parking Permit. The Bonanza Flat area, situated at the top of Guardsman Pass, is a popular recreation spot spanning approximately 1,500 acres, and is a highly trafficked recreation zone when the seasonal road is open.

The free parking permit is available exclusively to residents of the 84060 zip code, as taxpayers in this district contribute to the bond funding for the preservation of Bonanza Flat. Apply with proof of residency and learn more here.

The permit allows for complimentary parking at Bonanza Flat’s designated paid parking areas, with a limit of two permits per household. The permits are valid until December 31 each year and can be revoked if misuse or abuse is detected. Vehicles with outstanding parking citations are not eligible for the permit.

In addition to the parking permits, Park City Municipal announced that the Purple Transit Route would expand by midsummer to serve all Bonanza Flat trailheads, providing another convenient option for accessing the popular recreational area.

The introduction of paid parking and expanded transit options aims to manage visitor impact while maintaining accessibility for local residents and supporting ongoing conservation efforts.
