WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A driver was killed Tuesday morning when a semi-truck t-boned their Nissan Xterra on State Route 40 north of Heber City. The crash occurred around 8:15 a.m., and the driver—who was the SUV’s only occupant—died at the scene.
According to a Utah Department of Public Safety press release, the driver of the Xterra was attempting to turn left onto eastbound SR-40 when they pulled into the path of a westbound semi-truck. The semi struck the Xterra, resulting in a fatal collision. The driver’s identity has not yet been released.
As of noon, the Utah Department of Transportation said SR-40 is still reduced to one lane in each direction. Drivers are advised to expect delays and encouraged to use an alternate route if possible.
