PARK CITY, Utah—Park City High School senior Avery Dainton won first place in her solo dance competition in St. George in April. This was the final competition of her high school athletic career, which also included cheerleading.

She and the Miners cheer squad cheered for football, basketball and hockey this year traveling to away games in Salt Lake, Tooele, and Provo.
“I’ve made many memories in dance and cheer,” Dainton told TownLift, “I’ve found my forever best friends in both sports that have made a huge impact on my life and made my love for each sport stronger.”
The dancers perform hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, and ballroom and a few traveled to California to compete in National Championships.

Dainton, who has grown up in Park City, starting out at Trailside Elementary, will be attending college in Florida the fall at the University of Tampa. She’ll major in Allied Health and is excited about the campuses proximity to the ocean.
She hasn’t yet decided if she’s going to try out for cheer and dance in college, but is seriously considering the prospect.
This year the Park City High School cheer team members once again led the annual mini-cheer for grades one through six, attended by as many as 85 young athletes. Then, during the homecoming football game, the cheer and the dance teams shared the stage of the halftime field to compete in one wonderful choreographed performance to a packed crowd, for a standing ovation.
