30 years strong, kicking off a new season: PCSC tryouts begin this May

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Soccer Club (PCSC) has been a constant in the Wasatch Back’s community for over 30 years.  Tryouts and open houses are upcoming for the 2025/26 season. Preregistration is encouraged and free. If your child was born between 2014 and 2017, tryouts are May 19-21. For children born between 2007 and 2013, tryouts will be held May 27-19, and tryouts for players born between 2018 and 2020 are on May 29.

Players do not have to reside in Park City to join. “As long as they are committed to attending trainings and matches, they are welcome,” said Eli Ulvi, Technical Director for PCSC.

Informational open houses will be held on May 10 and May 17 in preparation for the annual tryouts. Parents of players ages 5-18 are welcome to learn about PCSC’s introductory and competitive programs, program fees, uniform packages, and financial aid opportunities.

“There has never been a child who wanted to play, who couldn’t join [PCSC] thanks to our financial aid programming,” said Ulvi.

With a host of programming, PCSC caters to foundational to competitive playing. The Foundations Program is an introduction to the development pathway for players 5 through 7 years old. This is the first step, prior to joining a U9 team which participates in Utah Youth Soccer Association’s State competitive leagues.

The Competitive program spans the ages 8-18 years (also identified as U9 – U19 in the soccer community.) Teams are formed by birth year, defined by Utah Youth Soccer Association (UYSA) and US Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), not by school year, and are sub-divided into the following groups:

  • X-League: U9 & U10, playing 7 v 7
  • Comp League: U11 & U12, playing 9 v 9 and U13 & U14, which begins 11 v 11 play
  • High School Age: U15 – U19, which are 9 month programs (with fees prorated accordingly)

The High School Provisional League (HSP) is a temporary league created to address the gap for U15 8th graders left out when their 9th grade teammates play high school soccer, UYSA introduced the High School Provisional League (HSP), a flexible, non-competitive league that allows continued play without affecting club standings.

With a host of dedicated staff, the organization hasn’t lain stagnant in its decades long legacy. In recent years, the club has polled the community and parents for insight and amped up its programming, including sending players to Sitges, Spain with TOVO Academy Barcelona.

“We’re serious about our commitment to serving our players and our community,” said Lauren Hanley, co-chair for the PCSC Board of Directors.
