SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Avalanche Center (UAC) released its final regularly scheduled avalanche forecast of the season on Sunday, signaling the official end of daily updates for winter 2024.
While the snowpack continues to melt across the state’s mountainous terrain, the UAC emphasized that it will issue updates as necessary and publish public observations through May 1.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone across the backcountry community who came together for another incredible season,” the center stated in a Facebook message shared Sunday. “We are sad to see the snow on its way out, but even more excited looking ahead to next season.”
Throughout the winter, the UAC provided daily avalanche forecasts to help backcountry users make informed decisions about snow stability and safety. The service draws from weather data, field observations, and reports submitted by the public.
With spring conditions prevailing, avalanche risk remains a concern—particularly during warming periods. The UAC encourages recreationists to continue submitting observations and to remain cautious as they transition into spring and summer activities.
The center added, “Have a safe summer, and we will see you out on the trails.”
