PARK CITY, Utah — Each year, volunteers flock to the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter building to check in and help clean up around Kimball Junction. Sign up for a shift on Saturday, May 3, here. Upon check in volunteers will be assigned to a specific area, given materials, and receive additional instructions.
As the snow melts, it reveals trash that has accumulated over the winter. If not removed, much of this garbage ends up on the Swaner Preserve, which can be dangerous for wildlife and detrimental to the wetland’s functions.
Organizers ask that volunteers arrive anytime within their shift to check in and pick up supplies. Check-in for this event will take place on the plaza in front of the Swaner EcoCenter, 1258 Center Drive, Park City, Utah.
Volunteers should wear closed-toe, sturdy shoes and come dressed for the weather. Please bring water and a snack if needed. Work gloves will be available to borrow, but feel free to bring your own if there is a pair you prefer. Volunteers may be walking over uneven terrain and bending over for extended periods of time.
Please be aware that the event may be cancelled in the event of severe weather.
If you are unable to attend, please cancel by withdrawing from the assignment, or contact Rhea Cone at rhea.cone@usu.edu or 435-797-8956.
Coffee and light snacks will be provided by community partner, Bartolo’s, and all volunteers who participate in the Earth Day Cleanup are entered into an opportunity drawing for fun prizes and gift cards from local sponsors. Other community sponsors include Newpark Town Center HOA and Recycle Utah.
Prize sponsors include, Cupla Coffee, Park City Yoga Collective, Storm Cycles, Hearth & Hill, Bee’s Wrap, Skullcandy, Fusion Hair PC, Sterling Steakhouse, and others.
