The Park City girls lacrosse team is a perennial success and the girls on this team have gone to and won State more often than not during their time on the team over the past years of their High School sports careers. Ask any student, parent, or coach even loosely connected to the team let alone directly involved and they’ll echo the sentiment shared with TownLift by the Miners Athletic Director Jamie Sheetz.
He gives a certain smile and takes a short beat before explaining and exclaiming the accolades of these athletes who continue to perform at the top of their game over and over again on the field. There’s a stuttered search for more and more superlatives when you ask anyone about this winning squad.
It’s no wonder they have to, or get to, travel to states like California to find fair competition during the season having outplayed the Utah landscape. Consider the stat of Goals Per Game whereas the national average is 9.5 and the Miners average is 17.1, consider that the nations Shots on Goal are 198, Miners 309, national Points per Game 12.8, Miners 25.2.
So, Friday night’s match being won by so many points is no anomoly, it’s the norm for these outstanding athletes. The regionally undefeated, number one ranked, 6 and 0 Miners beat non-region Davis since then 11 – 5, and West 24 – 0, East 23 – 0, before that.
They march confidently towards the playoffs taking on West Jordan in an away game tonight.
