Park City Mountain closes uphill travel for season ahead of schedule

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Mountain has announced an early end to uphill travel for the season, effective tonight at 10 PM. The resort issued a statement via text message, citing operational needs as the reason for the sudden change.

“All uphill travel will be CLOSED for the remainder of the season starting tonight (4/17) at 10 PM,” the statement read. “This earlier-than-expected closure is necessary to give our mountain operations team the time and space to safely move snow around and help preserve base area coverage through closing day.”

Uphill travel—ascending the mountain without lifts—has grown in popularity in recent years. However, as warmer spring temperatures impact snowpack, mountain crews are working to maintain the skiable terrain and ensure guest safety as the season winds down.

While uphill access typically continues later into the spring, resort officials emphasized that the closure is intended to help extend the resort’s remaining downhill operations through closing day.

Guests are encouraged to respect the closure and stay updated via the resort’s official communication channels. Park City Mountain has not yet released an exact date for the end of the ski season, but is expected to remain open for lift-served skiing for the coming days.
