Live Like Sam offers FREE Woodward passes, parent workshops at Park City “Leading With Kindness” event

PARK CITY, Utah — A coalition of local youth clubs, nonprofits and public agencies will stage an all-ages “Leading With Kindness” pop-up Saturday at Woodward Park City, aiming to counter a rise in school bullying with hands-on lessons in empathy, digital wellness and healthy relationships.

The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26 at Woodward, 3863 Kilby Road. Students will receive free meals, and all visitors will have complimentary all-access passes to the action-sports facility, including hourly introductory clinics in skateboarding, parkour and trampoline.

“A lot of bullying was happening in the schools, and it was brought to everyone’s attention this was something that needed to be addressed — more kindness,” said Jessica Parker, programs director for the Live Like Sam Foundation, which organized the gathering with the Park City School District, Peace House, Summit County Behavioral Health, Park City Community Foundation, Holy Cross Ministries, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Mountain Mediation Center.

Sixteen student-designed exhibits will fill Woodward’s main hall, mimicking the walk-through experience of a museum. “At the event there will be interactive exhibits, as if you’re going through a museum,” Parker said. Displays range from “bystander vs. upstander” role-plays and culture-shift trivia to activities exploring friendship, perspective and conflict resolution. Visitors who complete exhibits earn raffle tickets for prizes that include AirPods, Skullcandy headphones, a Kindle, board games, Megaplex movie gift cards, four Real Salt Lake tickets and a $150 Backcountry certificate.

Parent workshops run concurrently. Live Like Sam will lead a session on building healthy tech habits; Peace House will present “Healthy Relationships 101”; and Mountain Mediation will host facilitated circle discussions for adults and children to practice empathy and kind communication.

“The purpose is to educate, bring awareness, share different perspectives and gain a youth perspective on this topic,” Parker said. “We wanted to do something that could help shift the culture.”

Woodward’s community-day partnership removes the usual entry fee, though adults must purchase food if they choose to eat on-site.

Parker said the event embodies Live Like Sam’s guiding mantra—“choose kindness”—a theme woven through every lesson the foundation shares in classrooms and community programs.
