PARK CITY, Utah — A new outdoor concert series will bring live music to Park City’s Junction Commons this spring and summer through a partnership with Mountain Town Music.
The Junction Jam will feature local and regional artists performing on four Sundays from April through September, with the inaugural event scheduled for April 27.
“We are thrilled to announce our newest event to bring live musical experiences to our community in partnership with Mountain Town Music,” event organizers said in a statement.
The free concert series will take place at the Junction Commons Entry Plaza from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on April 27, June 29, August 24, and September 28.
Swinging Lights Band will kick off the series on April 27, leaning “deeper into traditional country music instrumentation and style.” Their “Outlaw Country Star” album features pedal steel and banjo while remaining “deeply rooted in the present” with themes reflecting “many feelings, questions and longings familiar to anyone alive right now in this tragic, beautiful world.”
Jim Bone + The Dig will perform on June 29. Arkansas-born Bone, who once trained for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, has deep musical roots in West Coast psychedelic and punk rock. His career includes stints with Burial Benefits, Skin N’ Bones, Little Women, and the Jackmormons, which he co-founded with Jerry Joseph of Widespread Panic. After a break to become a social worker, Bone formed Purdymouth and recently released a double LP.
Mobius Wave, scheduled for August 24, is described as “a groove powerhouse morphing Funk, Soul & Electronic music into psychedelic improvisations & polyrhythmic breakdowns.” The band, formed in 2022 by guitarist George Simon, features vocalist Mariah Del Rio, Josh Francis on keyboards and trumpet, Dre Miles on drums, and Dante Clavere on electric bass.
Shannon Runyon will close the series on September 28. The Park City-based full-time musician and singer-songwriter, who moved to Utah in 2012 after recording an album called “Getting Better Road” in Houston, says she finds “pure joy in sharing my music with others.”
“I’m often told I remind people of Jewel or Natalie Merchant but I believe that as long as I am true to myself in voice and music AND give my best, that’s the sweet spot of being a musician,” Runyon said in her website bio.
In addition to live music, the family-friendly events will include food vendors, with The Border Food Truck and Dos Hermanos offering 15% discounts during performances.
Mountain Town Music, which is partnering on the series, “is known for supporting live music that enhances the quality of life for Park City and Summit County residents and visitors,” according to organizers.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and “come for the music, stay for the vibe,” as organizers describe the atmosphere at Junction Commons, which they call “the perfect opportunity to enjoy beautiful spring and summer nights with great company, music, shopping and food.”
