Utah lands prestigious 2026 World Curling Championship

The World Men's Curling Championship will showcase the best teams from around the globe, with Park City's Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation helping deliver the event

OGDEN, Utah — The Weber County Ice Sheet in Ogden, Utah, will host the 2026 LGT World Men’s Curling Championship from March 28 to April 5, 2026, officials announced Thursday.

The event returns to the United States for the first time since Las Vegas hosted in 2022, and marks the Weber County venue’s first major curling competition since the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

“This is a remarkable opportunity for our community to experience an Olympic sport in their own backyard,” said Weber County Commission Chair Sharon Bolos.

The championship, organized by World Curling, brings together national championship teams selected through zonal qualification events.

A coalition of local organizations will manage the event, including Weber County as venue owner, Visit Ogden handling host city activities, Ogden City providing public services, and the GOAL Foundation coordinating volunteers. The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation will deliver the event while the Utah Sports Commission provides financial and promotional support.

“The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation is delighted to be working with so many community partners to bring this event to Utah and to continue showcasing world-class winter sport events in our communities,” said Calum Clark, Chief Operating Officer of the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation.

The championship comes as Utah prepares to host the Winter Olympics again in 2034.

“Hosting the 2026 LGT World Men’s Curling Championship in Utah is another exciting milestone in our state’s long history of world-class sporting events,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. “This event strengthens Utah’s sport and Olympic legacy while also building momentum as we prepare to welcome the world again in 2034.”
