Summit County opens applications for 2025 RAP Cultural Tax Grant

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah—Summit County is now accepting applications for the 2025 RAP Cultural Tax Grant, funding nonprofit cultural organizations and municipal or county cultural councils. The program is supported by a 0.1% sales tax initiative approved by the Utah State Legislature, which directs revenue toward arts and recreation programs.
Eligibility requires that applicants must be either a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered with the State of Utah or a municipal or county cultural council and must have as a primary purpose the advancement and preservation of: natural history, history, art, music, theatre, dance or, for (private nonprofits only) cultural arts. Applicants must also provide programs benefiting Summit County residents and pass a financial health assessment.
Grant funds may only be used for operating expenses related to cultural programming, as outlined in Utah Code 59-12-703(3)(b). Applicants should review Summit County Policy No. 1-A for spending restrictions.
2025 Grant Timeline
- March 3 – Grant documents available at summitcounty.org/culturalgrant
- March 31 (5 p.m. MST) – Application deadline
- April 28 & 30 (1-5 p.m.) – Grant interviews with the RAP Cultural Tax Committee
- May 2 (1-5 p.m.) – Public deliberation by the committee (details at summitcounty.org/AgendaCenter)
- May – County Council reviews and votes on recommendations
Approved applicants will receive grant agreements via email. Funds will be disbursed after agreements are signed and returned.
Recipients must submit financial reports within 12 months of approval. Failure to comply may result in a 10 percent penalty or disqualification from the next grant cycle. Full financial guidelines are available at summitcounty.org/culturalgrant.
