Nick Page leads hometown talent at World Championships in Switzerland

ST. MORITZ, Switzerland — The 2025 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships begin today in St. Moritz/Engadin, Switzerland, with a strong contingent of Utah-based athletes representing Team USA.

Park City native Nick Page headlines the local competitors in his third World Championships appearance. Page, who has secured two World Cup podiums this season, will compete in men’s moguls.

The U.S. team features several University of Utah students and alumni, including Olympic silver medalist Jaelin Kauf, who leads the moguls athletes into her fifth World Championships. At the 2023 World Championships in Bakuriani, Kauf earned two silver medals.

“This team has worked so hard this season, and their efforts have paid off with 32 podiums across eight different athletes,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard Chief of Sport Anouk Patty. “The athletes headed to World Championships are a great mix of seasoned competitors and rising stars. I know they will continue to push the boundaries and find success in Switzerland.”

Park City is also represented by Tasia Tanner, the 2024 FIS Rookie of the Year, who makes her World Championships debut in aerials. Kaysville’s Ian Schoenwald, who represents Park City Ski & Snowboard, will also make his first World Championships appearance in the men’s aerials competition.

On the moguls side, University of Utah student Kasey Hogg will make her World Championships debut, representing Wasatch Freestyle. Charlie Mickel, another University of Utah student representing Wasatch Freestyle/Durango Winter Sports Club, is also making his first appearance.

The aerials competition features 2022 Olympic gold medalist Chris Lillis, who attends the University of Utah. Lillis and teammate Quinn Dehlinger shared the top of the podium in the mixed aerials team event at the 2023 World Championships and are seeking a repeat performance.

Kaila Kuhn, who recently landed her first triple in competition, will compete in her fourth World Championships. Dani Loeb rounds out the Utah-connected athletes, making her second World Championships appearance. Both attend the University of Utah.

The championships run from March 18-30, with moguls qualifications kicking off the competition Tuesday. Live coverage will be available on skiandsnowboard.live for several events.
