SUN VALLEY, ID — The excitement is building as the Stifel U.S. Ski Team prepares for the upcoming Stifel Sun Valley Finals, set to take place from March 22-27, 2025. Among the 14 elite athletes representing the U.S. are two standout local racers: Lauren Macuga from Park City and Jared Goldberg, who trained at Snowbird.
Macuga, a rising star on the women’s speed team, has had a stellar season, earning her spot at the Finals alongside downhill world champion Breezy Johnson and skiing legend Lindsey Vonn, who qualified in super-G and downhill during her impressive comeback season. Macuga, already a World Championships medalist and World Cup winner, continues to prove she’s a force to be reckoned with on the international stage.
On the men’s side, Jared Goldberg — a veteran known for his speed and resilience — brings years of experience and determination to the Finals. A product of Snowbird’s racing program, Goldberg has competed on the world’s biggest slopes, and his qualification for Sun Valley cements his status as a top contender in speed events.
“Skiing at home is always special, and having 14 Stifel U.S. Ski Team athletes qualify for the Stifel Sun Valley Finals is a testament to their hard work and dedication this season,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard President & CEO Sophie Goldschmidt.
The stacked U.S. team also features household names like Olympic silver medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle and the winningest alpine skier in history, Mikaela Shiffrin, who will compete in slalom after battling back from injury earlier in the season.
With a strong regular season that included 11 podium finishes and four victories, the U.S. team looks to end the year on a high note in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. For local fans, Macuga and Goldberg’s appearances make this event even more thrilling — a chance to cheer on hometown heroes as they compete against the world’s best.
