Vehicle fire on I-80 eastbound in Parleys Canyon, 2 lanes closed

PARK CITY, Utah — The second wave of a strong winter storm is creating challenging driving conditions in Park City.

At 6:44 p.m., UDOT reported a vehicle fire on eastbound I-80 in Parleys Canyon, blocking the two right lanes and the shoulder. Two lanes remain open, but traffic delays are expected as emergency crews respond.

Drivers should use caution and prepare for winter road conditions.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 11 a.m. MST on Saturday, bringing heavy snow to the Wasatch Back, including Park City.

  • Snowfall: An additional 2 to 6 inches is expected, with localized totals up to 8 inches in Park City.
  • Timing: Snowfall will continue through Saturday morning.
  • Impacts: Hazardous winter driving conditions are expected
