Salt Lake City to host X Games for first time in 2025

SALT LAKE CITY — This summer, Salt Lake City will host the X Games for the first time, bringing three days of action sports competitions to the Utah State Fairpark and Event Center from June 27-29, 2025.

The event will feature more than 100 of the world’s top athletes in Moto X, BMX and skateboarding, with a prize pool of more than $1 million.

In celebration of the X Games’ 30th anniversary, the event will expand to three cities, including Osaka, Japan, and Sacramento, California. Salt Lake City was chosen for its strong action sports community, dedicated fan base and support from local organizations such as the Utah State Fairpark and Visit Salt Lake.

The event will not only showcase high-level competition but also offer entertainment and interactive fan experiences. Five-time X Games medalist and two-time Olympic medalist Jagger Eaton expressed excitement about bringing the games to Utah.

“I’m stoked to bring X Games to Salt Lake City this summer so action sports fans in Utah can have the chance to experience the energy of skateboarding in person,” said Eaton, who recently won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.

Local officials also voiced their enthusiasm.

“Salt Lakers are fans, athletes, and some of them even Olympians—making this a natural fit,” said Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall.

Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson highlighted the region’s reputation as a hub for outdoor adventure and action sports.

“Hosting the X Games is a testament to our reputation as a premier destination for events that inspire, energize and unite communities,” Wilson said.

The X Games Salt Lake City 2025 will feature sponsor activations and interactive elements designed to enhance the fan experience, incorporating the city’s outdoor culture to create unique opportunities for both participants and spectators.
