Walmart supports Puppy Bowl party with supplies for two Utah pet shelters

Park City Walmart surprises local pet rescue staff with game day baskets as they support California wildfire shelter relief efforts

PARK CITY, Utah — Local Walmart stores scored a touchdown with animal rescue workers Tuesday, surprising staff at two Utah pet shelters with Super Bowl party supplies ahead of Sunday’s big game.

The Park City Walmart location delivered 20 game day snack baskets to Nuzzles & Co., while the Centerville store presented Best Friends Animal Society with an equal number during a segment of ABC4’s “Good Things Utah.”

“We appreciate Nuzzles & Co’s fierce dedication to rescuing adoptable pets and uniting them with loving homes in the Park City community and beyond,” said Jason Spatz, General Manager of Walmart in Park City. “We know the past few weeks have been extra challenging to meet the needs of pets from shelters in California impacted by the wildfires, so we wanted to spread some Puppy Bowl and Game Day cheer to their staff.”

The donation coincides with Walmart’s sponsorship of Puppy Bowl XXI, the original and longest running call-to-adoption on television.

“The staff of Nuzzles & Co. is deeply honored by Walmart Park City’s thoughtful recognition of our staff with 20 Game Day baskets,” said Leslie Barcus, Nuzzles & Co. Executive Director. “Nuzzles’ staff are fiercely committed 365 days per year to rescuing, sheltering and readying homeless and at-risk animals for loving adoptive homes found among our fantastic community. The gesture by Walmart Park City to honor my staff, themselves a dedicated team of Super Bowl players for animal rescue, is incredibly kind and appreciated.”

Each basket contains enough snacks to serve eight people and is available in Walmart stores and online through February 9.
