City League aims to shift the perception that travel is necessary for team sports in Park City by offering structured, competitive after-school programs locally with no weekend commitments.
PARK CITY, Utah — As parents, we want the best for our children—we want them to find a sport they love, have a great coach, and be part of a team. But we don’t want to spend every weekend traveling, explains Max Valverde, Board member of the newly formed City League youth sports non profit based in Park City, Utah.
City League aims to transform team sports in Park City by eliminating the need for travel while providing top-tier coaching for players of all levels. The league will launch this spring with baseball, while soccer is set to begin in the fall, serving two age groups: 1st and 2nd graders, as well as 3rd through 5th graders. Basketball and additional sports are expected to follow.
“We’ve spoken with parents all over Park City, and the message is clear – they want high-level sports that fit into family life. City League is that solution,” said Valverde
“Right now, the only path for kids who want to develop in a sport is to join a club team that requires travel across the state – and sometimes the country. We knew there had to be a better way.”
Valverde, a local parent and club soccer participant, said managing multiple travel schedules for his three children has made balancing family time increasingly difficult.
City League aims to shift the perception that travel is necessary for team sports in Park City by offering structured, competitive after-school programs locally with no weekend commitments. The league is designed to help kids develop their skills while providing flexibility for families.
“City League is about giving kids the foundation to succeed in any sport they choose,” said Danny Aronson, another board member and co-founder. “Whether they continue as multi-sport athletes or eventually specialize and return to the club system, they’ll have the skills, experience, and love of the game to thrive.”
City League Baseball kicks off this April. City League runs from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, with kids participating two days per week between Monday and Thursday depending on their age group.
Soccer is set to launch at the start of the 2025 school year, with basketball and other sports to follow.

About City League:
At City League, we believe in giving our children every opportunity to succeed in sports without sacrificing what matters most: family time, balance, and joy of sport. We’ve created a model that nurtures both athletic growth and family connection. With City League, you can have it all—a competitive, high-quality sports experience that doesn’t cost you everything.
To make this vision a reality, we are in the process of establishing City League as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our board and leadership team are entirely volunteer-based, ensuring that 100% of local sponsorships go directly to coaching, uniforms, transportation, and other essential needs for the kids.
We are also looking to partner with local organizations to start with a strong foundation—ensuring access to field space and a large pool of Park City kids ready to participate. By building on existing infrastructure, we can launch City League with a running start and deliver an incredible experience for both kids and families from day one.
