SNOWBIRD, Utah – “The Return of Freeride” – an IFSA Adult Qualifier 2 and 4*, returns to Snowbird’s legendary Silver Fox and North Baldy faces in the Wasatch Mountains on February 18-20th.
“The Return of Freeride” events honor the past, and define the future of the evolution of big mountain freeride ski and snowboard competitions.
What began as a bold and extreme pursuit of sport, freeride skiing and snowboarding has pushed the boundaries and limits on untamed, steep terrain. In recent years, as the sport’s popularity has grown, freeriding has evolved into a discipline with much deeper precision, flow and guidelines.
As the growth of freeride skiing and snowboarding continues, so does the competition demand through the enrollment of athletes young and old. Expect to see local and international athletes battling it out trying to take the top honors.
“There has been nearly 30 years of freeride history at Snowbird,” stated event organizer Max Kuszaj. “Snowbird has always been the top tier resort for freeride athletes to visit and compete at year in and year out. The Adult Qualifier events, along with the Junior freeride events are something not to miss.”
200-invited IFSA ranked men’s and women’s freeskiing and snowboarding athletes will battle it out throughout the days of February 18-20th on Snowbird’s legendary terrain. New and long-time competitors, including former champions will be in attendance.
“The men’s skiing category is one that you will not want to miss,” said head IFSA Judge Jonathan Manwaring. “Every year the athletes find some way to excite the judging panel.”
